**** AWARD Award Type: Fellowship Annual # of awards: 1-2 Duration: 1 month Date Effective: July 1 Purpose: Two one-month residential fellowships are available for projects using the Newberry Library collections to understand and interpret the cultural history and expressions of the diverse peoples of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley region (Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ontario). These fellowships are open to scholars with the Ph.D. or the equivalent or an established record of scholarly research; candidates for degrees are not eligible. Each fellowship has a stipend of $1,250.
