Award Type: Fellowship
Annual # of awards: Ten
Duration: Two years
Purpose: The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Program seeks to attract outstanding young people who have an interest in pursuing a career in the Foreign Service of the U. S. Department of State. Graduating seniors and recent college graduates with strong academic records are encouraged to apply and those selected will enter into one of the most exciting and rewarding careers available. The selected fellows receive two year graduate tuition and participate in the Summer Enrichment Program. The Summer Enrichment Program also includes undergraduates selected through a separate process. Both aspects of the Rangel Program encourage the involvement of members of minority groups and those with financial need.

Emphasis On: At the conclusion of two years of study, the Rangel Fellow is expected to obtain a degree in international affairs or another area of relevance to the work of the Foreign Service (such as public administration, public policy, business administration, foreign languages, economics, political science, communications) at a graduate or professional school approved by the Ralph J. Bunche International Affairs Center.

Level of Study: Graduate
Nationality/Residency: Must be a US citizen
Other Criteria: Applicants must be in the senior year of their undergraduate study or have completed their undergraduate degree by June 2006, in order to enter graduate school in the fall of 2006. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or high
