Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowships

Award Type: Fellowship
Annual # of awards: Twenty
Duration: Two years
Purpose: The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Program seeks to attract outstanding young people who have an interest in pursuing a career in the Foreign Service of the U. S. Department of State. Graduating seniors and recent college graduates with strong academic records are encouraged to apply. Those selected will enter into one of the most exciting and rewarding careers available – the U.S. Foreign Service. The selected fellows will receive money to cover living expenses and tuition at a two-year graduate school in the U.S. studying international affairs or a related subject. While in graduate school, Rangel Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in two paid internships – one before the first year of graduate school with a Member of Congress working on foreign affairs and the other before the second year of graduate school at a U.S. Embassy overseas. The Rangel Program encourages the involvement of members of minority groups and those with financial need.

Country: Any Country
Emphasis On: At the conclusion of two years of study, the Rangel Fellow is expected to obtain a degree in international affairs or another area of relevance to the work of the Foreign Service (such as public administration, public policy, business administration, foreign languages, economics, political science, communications) at a graduate or professional school approved by the Rangel Program.

Level of Study: graduate
Nationality/Residency: Must be a US citizen
Other Criteria: Applicants must be in the senior year of their undergraduate study or have earned an undergrad degree by June 2010, in order to enter graduate school in Fall 2010. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale
