The Language Flagship Fellowships

Award Type: Fellowship

Purpose: The Language Flagship offers a limited number of fellowships to qualified American students interested in receiving full financial support to participate in one of the Flagship Programs for advanced study of Arabic, Central Asian Turkic languages, Korean, Mandarin, Persian, and Russian. Flagship Fellowships are awards of up to two years that support academic expenses directly associated with participation in a Flagship Program, including tuition, a modest stipend for living expenses, and support for travel costs and health insurance coverage. Award recipients are expected to devote a full-time effort to their Flagship program of study.

Institution: Flagship Fellowships support participation in designated Flagship post-BA Programs at Brigham Young University, Ohio State University, University of Hawaii, University of Maryland, and overseas Flagship Programs administered by American Councils for

Deadline: January 16, 2009
Notification Date: April 2009
Procedure: Applicants must complete online application form and 1000 word essay. Additionally, three letters of reference should be submitted through online application. Hard copies of all academic transcripts must be submitted to IIE by application deadline.
Flagship Fellowship applicants must also prepare a separate application for admission to a designated post-BA Flagship Program.
