**** AWARD Award Type: Fellowship Annual # of awards: up to 10 Duration: 1 year Purpose: German Chancellor Fellowships are awarded to prospective leaders from the U.S.A, who have completed a first degree (at least a Bachelor or comparable degree), enabling them to carry out research projects of their own choice in Germany. During the one-year research stays, fellows are also given an opportunity to gain an insight into the social, cultural, economic and political situation in Germany.

The panel conducting the interviews consists of renowned scholars and professionals from the United States and Germany, including a former German Chancellor Fellow. This selection committee selects up to ten individuals to recommend to the foundation as participants in the fellowship program.
