Duration: 1 year
Purpose: German Chancellor Fellowships are awarded to prospective leaders from the U.S.A, who have completed a first degree (at least a Bachelor or comparable degree), enabling them to carry out research projects of their own choice in Germany. During the one-year research stays, fellows are also given an opportunity to gain an insight into the social, cultural, economic and political situation in Germany.

**** APPLICATION INFORMATION

Procedure: The foundation invites a selection of finalists to an interview in Washington, D.C. The panel conducting the interviews consists of renowned scholars and professionals from the United States and Germany, including a former German Chancellor Fellow. This selection committee selects up to ten individuals to recommend to the foundation as participants in the fellowship program.
