**** AWARD Award Type: Scholarship Annual # of awards: 1 per HACU student on HSAS program Duration: Academic Semester Date Effective: Rolling Purpose: The Cisneros Study Abroad Scholarship is a special scholarship offered as part of the Hispanic Study Abroad Scholars program. The Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, a host institution partner with Global Learning Semesters, is our first Special Initiative partner. The Universidad de Alcalá has generously agreed to fund the Cisneros Study Abroad Scholarship for all HSAS students attending GLS semester programs in Alcalá. Study abroad programs at the Universidad de Alcalá are hosted by the Institute for North American Studies at Trinitarios College with whom we offer innovative programs such as the Spanish Heritage program for students with bilingual and bicultural backgrounds. This program provides 1,000 Euro (approximately $1,250) in scholarship monies per student and is in addition to the HSAS.

Applying to the HSAS program is very simple. If you attend a HACU institution and are applying to a Global Learning Semesters program, you will automatically see two additional questions on your online application. The questions that you will be asked are: 1. Would you like to submit an application for the HSAS program? 2. Please write a brief personal statement explaining how you believe Study Abroad will be important to your personal and career development? Your information will be forwarded to the representative from your home institution who will make the final nomination decision. **** ELIGIBILITY Level of Study: undergraduate, graduate Other Criteria: You are eligible for the Cisneros Scholarship under the HSAS program if you are attending a semester-long Global Learning Semesters program in Alcalá and attend a HACU member institution that has activated its HSAS account.
