Work Immersion Study Program (WISP)

Duration: 3 months
Purpose: This program provides an opportunity for students at community colleges to improve their German skills, gain practical work experience and experience German culture firsthand. WISP starts with a one-month intensive language course at the Carl Duisberg Centrum language school located in Radolfzell, Germany. Participants then complete a 2-month internship in a variety of business and technical fields with German host companies in the Baden-Württemberg region. Generous financial support for WISP is provided by the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM, a Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg program. The scholarship includes round-trip airfare from New York City to Germany, all program related in-country travel costs, the language course, accommodation, a modest monthly stipend and insurance.

Other Criteria: -At least one semester of German instruction completed upon departure to Germany -At least one year of study at a community college in a variety of fields
